There have been some changes in the Type approval policy by Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA). According to the latest regulations, there have been the following changes:

1. Changes to the list of exempt devices

According to the update in the list of exempt devices, the following devices are included:

i. Equipment for networking, i.e. switches, storage devices, firewalls, and servers.

ii. No sim-based laptops and desktop computers.

iii. GPS-only devices.

Two categories of devices previously in the exempted list have now been removed. These are:

i. No sim-based tablet PC with Wifi only.

ii. Smartwatches with Wifi or Bluetooth functionality that are not sim-based.

All equipment that consists of Wifi Bluetooth and RFID will require Pakistan Type approval now, considering the above changes to the list of exempted devices. It also includes SRDs that are already subject to Type approval by PTA.

2. Ultra wideband devices

Ultra Wide Band Devices are another addition to the list and are now categorized formally as devices requiring PTA Type approval.

3. Including 62368 safety standards

There is also an inclusion of 62368 safety standards in the list of testing standards accepted by the PTA.

Hopefully, this updated list of equipment helps you guide through the Type Approval process to have a wonderfully complied year.
