PTA Publishes Draft Testing Standards Consolidated for all categories

Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has published draft testing standards now consolidated for all equipment/technology categories. Previously such consolidated list of standards was not available at a single place.

It is to be mentioned that the wireless equipment approval in Pakistan still requires submission of a test sample along with the Type Approval application package and that PTA still has the mandate to perform sample testing as part of PTA Type Approval application evaluation.

PTA announces Short Range devices allowed frequency bands with power limits

Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has published Technical standards including allowed frequency ranges and output power limits for all Short Range Devices (SRDs) requiring PTA Type Approval in Pakistan. This is very welcomed broadcast by the regulator as previously this information was not available publicly at a single source.

Pakistan Allows LORAWAN IoT network establishment and publishes regulatory framework

Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), the telecommunication regulator in Pakistan, has allowed IoT network establishment based on LoraWan technology in Pakistan.

The regulator has allowed 433 Mhz and 900 Mhz bands for establishment of such networks and has mandated that such networks should be built only after acquisition of PTA LPWAN License. The license has a one-time fees portion and a recurring fee component.
​
In the LPWAN License application form, PTA has required all such applicants to firstly acquire the LPWAN license before applying for PTA Type Approval of the network devices.

PTA Publishes New Type Approval Regulation
10th March, 2021
Pakistan Regulator, PTA, has published revised Pakistan Type Approval Regulation and has modified the exempt devices list from PTA Type Approval.

With this regulation enforced, only below three types of equipment are exempt from PTA Type Approval now:
​
1- GPS Only devices
2- Non-Sim Based Laptops/Desktops only
3- Networking Equipments including Switches, Firewalls, servers and storage devices.

PTA - Pakistan allows Wi-Fi 6E

Pakistan has now allowed Wi-Fi 6E as per below limitations:
​
Allowed Wi-Fi 6E band in Pakistan : 5.925-6.425 Ghz
Allowed Output Power : 23 dBm Indoor and 14 dBm outdoor
